Meditation

MeditatorsThe silent meditation period usually lasts 10-15 minutes at the beginning of Sunday Service.

If meditation is new to you, just sit quietly or try following these simple instructions: First, close your eyes and relax. Sit comfortable, upright, with your spine straight. Be aware of your breath. Without straining your eyes, focus your attention, slightly upward to the point between the eyebrows. Call to God in the language of your heart, or repeat these words: "Reveal Thyself, reveal Thyself, reveal Thyself."

"The soul loves to meditate, for in contact with the Spirit lies its greatest joy. Remember this, whenever you experience mental resistance during meditation: Reluctance to meditate comes from the ego. It doesn't belong to the soul." Paramhansa Yogananda

Meditation ends with an affirmation on the "quality of the week," from Kriyananda's book, Affirmations for Self-Healing.
